Diageo

One of the Village’s largest private employers, Diageo, will be building a 1.5 million square foot warehouse facility in Plainfield. The facility will be located off of 143rd Street near Steiner Road. Diageo will bring 100 new employees to this expansion to complement their existing work force of over 600. They plan to have the building completed by November 2019, so they can be operational by February 2020.

New Businesses

The restaurant business is booming in Plainfield...
  • The Backroads Pub & Grill opened on Route 30.
  • Due to Dunkin’s success at the Gas-N-Wash at Steiner & 126, they are going to construct a new standalone building adjacent to the Gas-N-Wash. Dunkin is currently moving through the planning process with the expectation to begin construction in the Spring of 2019.
  • Crab Boil recently opened at the northeast corner of Roberts and Route 59.
  • Noodles plans to open this spring near IL 59 and 135th. This fast-casual restaurant will also include a convenient drive-up.
  • A new Thai restaurant, Chai Thai, will open soon on Route 30.

Downtown Plainfield

Station One, the old Fire station on Des Plaines Street, has two new businesses. Station One Smokehouse which offers Texas barbecue opened recently and Garage Band Brewing will open later this year. The second floor of Station One is also under construction for new office space that will boast floor to ceiling windows with a great view of the downtown.

Visionary Distillery plans to open their new distillery in a building off of Des Plaines Street, near Dottie’s Art Studio and Front Street Cantina. They will be making gin and vodka.

Several new retailers also opened downtown including two new women’s boutiques - J Joho and Marie Angeline as well as Sara Boo Creek which offers home decor and housewares. DNA Athletics also moved their athletic apparel and running shoe store to Downtown Plainfield. Their building is the first new building constructed downtown in nearly two decades.
